As you may have noticed, loading the first page of ZuFeed (Recent News) has been getting kinda slow. So with a bit of a kick to the code and a new database index it’s all working great again. Enjoy.

I’m not sure this is a feature as much as a necessity. I am now able to flag certain feeds as copyrighted.

What does this mean for you? Any items that come from a copyright flagged feed will only show the title, source and link.

So if you start seeing items with no descriptions – chances are it is due to this.

It has been a while sine I’ve done some updates, but today we have a new page – statistics. Not much up there at the moment, just a couple of dynamic graphs showing how many new items are added to the ZuFeed database. Enjoy.

You may have noticed recently the ability to subscribe to shared collections created by other people.

We have now extended that feature to allow you to subscribe to individual feeds.

Any collections or feeds you subscribe to are easily accessible on the right-hand side menus. But, to take advantage of this you need to be logged in.

Feed View has finally joined the other pages on ZuFeed with “Items per page” based viewing.

You can now view the entire archive for an individual feed by using the “Previous” and “Next” links.

Early this morning (Melbourne time), ZuFeed passed the 100,00 item barrier.

Hopefully this just the first of many to come.

In other news, there has been many minor updates across the ZuFeed site. Many of these changes have been bugfixes or minor usability enhancements.

A big “Thank You” to everyone who has provided feedback as this has provided many of the changes that have been made.

At popular request, by default when you login you will be taken to your “My Collections” page.

However if you don’t like the change, you can always change it back to “Recent News” in your preferences.

Our first external widget!

If you have a browser that supports OpenSearch like Firefox or IE7+, you can manually add the search engine widget with:

Or with Firefox, go to ZuFeed.com, click on the search icon list, and select “Add ZuFeed”.

Collection View has been updated to allow page based viewing of all items. Just just the “next” and “previous” links.

As an extra courtesy, Feed View will now include a direct link to the RSS feed the information is sourced from.
